Of course, I refer to Raphael, Gabriel and Michael. Clearly, these three persons of the angelic world have supreme importance in salvation-history. Their names appear at momentous times, as God deals with His people. P 16 And I heard the voice of a man between Ulai: and he called, and said: Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision. 21 As I was yet speaking in prayer, behold the man, Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, flying swiftly, touched me at the time of the evening sacrifice. P Here we have mention of Gabriel in Daniel 9. P 10.13. At last Michael, one of the high lords, brought me aid and there at Persia' court, I was left master of the field. 10.21 Much is to do, and save for Michael, that is guardian of your race, I have none to aid me. 12.1 But at that time shall Michael rise up, the great prince, who stands for the children of thy people: and a time shall come, such as never was from the time that nations began, even until that time. And at that time shall thy people be saved, every one that shall be found written in the book. P Daniel. P Who am I? I am the Angel Raphael and my place is among those seven who stand in the presence of the Lord. P Tobias 12:15. And in the New Testament we have Gabriel who presents himself to Zachary the father of John the Baptist and also to Mary when she conceived, by The Holy Spirit, The Saviour in her most sacred, most precious, most pure, womb. Refer Luke 1:19 and 26. P 9. When Michael the archangel, disputing with the devil, contended about the body of Moses, he durst not bring against him the judgment of railing speech, but said: The Lord command thee. (Jude 1) 7 And there was a great battle in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon fought, and his angels. (Revelation 12) P The Meaning of the Names of Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. The following quotations are taken from PROPER NAMES OF THE ANGELS, Pascal P. Parente (Refer pages 2-8 herein). P Michael from the Hebrew "Mikha'el", meaning: "Who is as God"? His name is a battle cry; both shield and weapon in the struggle, and an eternal trophy of victory. The name Gabriel seems to be composed of the Hebrew words, "gebher ": man, and "'el ": God. It means, therefore, "Man of God ", or , "Strength of God." Raphael, from the Hebrew "rapha'": to heal, and "'el:" God, means God heals, or the Divine healer. P We have a sympathetic indication of the specialised works of each, as follows:- P Above all, feel close at hand the archangels, whose feast the Church is celebrating today: Saint Gabriel, that he may give you the very strength of God; Saint Raphael, that he may be the remedy for all your wounds; Saint Michael, that he may defend you from the terrible snares which, in these times, Satan is setting for you. P Marian Movement of Priests - September 29, 1987 Inchon (Korea) It seems to me the names and the meaning of the names are complimentary one to the other. They have different types of strength and different tasks but these strengths and tasks parallel those of The Holy Trinity and so together, make a wholeness.
Could it be that Michael, the soldier defending Goodness, might be a refection of The Eternal-father; and Gabriel, the strength of God (i.e. the strength that is Truth), might be the reflection of The Eternal-word, Jesus Himself, while Raphael, the healer, might reflect The Spirit of Love?
So, what I am suggesting is:-
that Raphael, Gabriel and Michael, are three persons in the one angelic being!
Thus totally reflecting The Almighty Trinity in creation. If this hypothesis is accepted, then other things of God and His creation can be explained. Let us assume, for example, that at first there was another angelic being, having three persons whose names were Lucifer, Satan and Beelzebub (or Asmodeus). Because there could only be one such being in imitation of The Holy Trinity, and these were they, then that would explain why so many angels looked upon this triune angel as superior in every way and why many of them followed him even in his rebellion against God. It is easier to imagine that such a superior creature, only one of a kind in all creation, perfect in every way, was able, and was in a position, to bring forth thoughts of pride within himself as so many lesser angels look upon him as god-like! And so the triune angel rebelled and took with him a great number of angelic followers forming in themselves the kingdom of hell. Having thus rebelled and separated themselves from God, there was no longer a triune creature that totally reflected The Godhead.
So, to replace the triune rebel, God brought forth the faithful, the true and the loving triune angel, Michael, Gabriel and Raphael.
