Musings 2005/198

At The Cross

P 50 12 27 Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But for this cause I came unto this hour.
50 12 28 Father, glorify thy name. A voice therefore came from heaven:
I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
50 12 29 The multitude therefore that stood and heard, said that it thundered. Others said: An angel spoke to him.
50 12 30 Jesus answered, and said:
This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
50 12 31

Now is the judgment of the world:
now shall the prince of this world
be cast out.

50 12 32

And I,
if I be lifted up from the earth,
will draw all things to myself.

50 12 33 (Now this he said, signifying what death he should die.) P
Jesus here states clearly that He became
a son of man, for the specific reason of carrying The Cross and being crucified upon it - But for this cause I came unto this hour.
How astonishing is this?
Yet Christ opens a treasury of Truth when He declares that
now shall the prince of this world be cast out! He declares that He has come into His Own creation not only to teach Truth, for He is Truth-personified, but to be the sacrificial lamb! - that shall conquer the evil one and all evil!
Christ's one and only Sacrifice shall do this!
But in His astounding teaching He further states something phenomenal:-  And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all things to myself!
In reality Christ is repeating the same Truth  when He proclaims that the prince of this world shall be cast out and then, I will draw all things to myself, because

both statements declare
the victory
of good over evil.

Christ states He has conquered the evil one and as a result of this triumph He regains the universe for Himself - the universe created for Him in the first place; the universe created by The Eternal-father for Him by way of The Spirit of Love.
At that time and space at Golgotha some 2,000 years ago, Christ's Triumph was complete and there but remained the certain, unchangeable fulfilment of this Triumph which would absolutely ensue over future millenniums, everywhere.

Indeed, as Christ hung
from The Cross
He transcended time and space
and His absolute Triumph
was given Him.

That is to say, all things were drawn to Him.
All things good
in all creation,
over all time,
were given to Him on The Cross.

"Eucharistic Woman,"
above all at the foot of the cross,
its own figure.. P

The recent Synod of Bishops on The Eucharist (refer the 50 Propositions detailed herein) made this fabulous statement.
It seems to me that the Bishops are saying that The Church
on earth, is at the foot of The Cross of Christ, with the Mother, and that The Church is personified at that point in time and space, by the Mother.
This accords with what The Church proclaims about The Sacrifice of The Mass - that it is the same Sacrifice as that on Golgotha. However, where we perceive the Sacrifice as coming to us, as part of our time and space, by way of Holy Mass, it is in fact the opposite -
we are taken instead, to The Cross.

if I be lifted up from the earth,
will draw all things to myself.

If we consider The Universal Church as threefold - as She is (Church Militant, Church Suffering, Church Triumphant) - then it is The Church Militant (that is, The Church on earth) that is at the foot of The Cross.
That being so, then The
Church Suffering (the Holy Souls in Purgatory and Limbo) are in the process of becoming One with Christ on The Cross.
Then,
The Church Triumphant (the Saints and Angels in Heaven) have already been drawn to Him, on The Cross.
Somehow, all these things are happening in time and space, from century to century, and somehow they are already a fait accompli, at Golgotha.
