With desire I have desired to eat
this pasch with you, before I suffer.

49  22  16  For I say to you, that from this time I will not eat it, till it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. PLuke

He said this knowing what awaited Him the next day!!

He had looked forward to this Supper with His Apostles even though it was His last and even though His atrocious agonies were about to start - they were but an hour away!
The betrayal - the desertions - the humiliations - the constant battering - His own People condemning Him - the scourging - the crown of thorns - the Cross - the crucifixion!
It seems that His death required a complete separation of Blood from Body! The last drop of Blood was extracted by the soldier who pierced His Heart! This was the norm in the sacrificial offering of the unblemished lamb by the Hebrews - complete separation of body and blood.
But He desired to eat this pasch!
There is a word - it is pathos - the power of arousing feelings of pity or sorrow, says Collins Compact Dictionary - but Christ's realisation of what was to happen to Him from the earliest age and His desire for its culmination, is beyond pathos - it is almost unacceptable!
How can He do this? How can He show us up for what we are, so absolutely?
We are left bereft!
We are no longer able to say, when we are presented before God:-
But You don't understand what it is to be a man?
But You don't realise what it is to suffer?
But You don't know what it is like to be humiliated and despised and marginalised?
The question will never come up, because we know that He has understood; He has realised; He has known all these and much more - more then we ourselves have experienced!
We are left defenceless! We have no case! We have no excuse! We can not even plead for pity!
God has gone to the ultimate measure in assuming human nature.
He has left nothing undone.
Humanity has nothing left to do but to become conscious of the
Ten Commandments and to follow them precisely. Humanity has no choice but to discover what The Christ is all about and to follow His new law; the Truth of creation - Love one another as I have loved you.
Humanity has no alternative but to seek out The Mystical Body of Jesus Christ, The Universal Church, and to follow Her precepts and to remain very close in the company of the Vicar of Christ, the Pope!
In short - humanity
has no leg to stand upon, as the saying goes, if it fails to find and follow Christ.
And I quote yet again from
The Golgotha Prayer:-

P At Gethsemane
You transcended time and space,
my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ
- God's Own Sacrificial Lamb -
and in Your agony
You surveyed the massive, glorious army
of future saints of every nation of every generation,
whose great sanctity was made possible
only through the Infinite Merits
of Your Passion; of Your Cross, and in this You were
somewhat strengthened and consoled.
With boldness and hope, with humility and holy fear,
I place myself in this transcendent survey of Yours, my Lord,
not as one of Your great Saints but as a little child
of Your Immaculate Mother
who would kneel beside her before You at Golgotha,
in the company of the beloved Apostle John
and the holy women,
so that I might  somewhat strengthen and console
Your Immaculate Mother and mine,
for she is Your greatest consoler,
and to join with our Mother
and with the great Patriarch, St. Joseph,
and the glorious Archangel Raphael, Gabriel and Michael,
and with all the Angels, Saints and Holy Souls,
in their universal declaration:
we recognise You; we acknowledge You; we appreciate You,
Son of God; Son of Man.;
You for Whom only were we created. P

The words somewhat strengthened and consoled are those of Anna Catherina Emmerich, from her majestic visions of The Life of Christ.
Benedict XVI's Infallibility
P 50  17  12  While I was with them, I kept them in thy name. Those whom thou gavest me have I kept; and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, that the scripture may be fulfilled. PJohn
